Climate and air quality
Life on earth as we know it, is finely adapted to a specific composite of gases in the atmosphere. Any major changes in this composition can have huge consequences for life on earth, not only for human beings, but also for animals and plants. Emissions of climate gases can lead to a change in the global climate. Emissions of gases and particles can have a strong impact on both the climate and air quality. If such changes happen in a relatively short period of time, the consequences may be dramatic. Developing countries are particularly vulnerable.
It is essential that we gain insight into and understand how we ourselves are creating todays climate changes. Likewise we need to be able to make qualified future estimates in order to make the right decisions today. Taking the correct actions is vital if we want to secure a stable global climate in the future.
